Apara Ekadashi 2026 Date: The Ekadashi falling during the *Krishna Paksha* (waning phase of the moon) in the month of *Jyeshtha* is known as Apara Ekadashi. It is referred to as the first Ekadashi of the month of Jyeshtha. On the day of Apara Ekadashi, Lord Vishnu is worshipped in his *Trivikrama* form—specifically, his *Vamana* avatar. Observing this fast leads to the attainment of fame, wealth, happiness, prosperity, and *Moksha* (salvation). It brings an end to life's tribulations and grants liberation from sins. Let us find out the date, auspicious timings (*Muhurat*), and *Parana* (fast-breaking) time for the first Ekadashi of Jyeshtha, or Apara Ekadashi.

Apara Ekadashi 2026 Date
According to the Vedic *Panchang* (calendar), the *Jyeshtha Krishna Ekadashi Tithi* (lunar day) for Apara Ekadashi begins on Tuesday, May 12, at 2:52 PM. This *Tithi* concludes on Wednesday, May 13, at 1:29 PM. Based on the *Udayatithi* (the lunar day prevailing at sunrise), the Apara Ekadashi fast will be observed on May 13. The *Parana* (breaking of the fast) will take place on Thursday, May 14.
Apara Ekadashi 2026 Auspicious Timings (*Muhurat*)
On the day of Apara Ekadashi, the *Brahma Muhurat* spans from 4:08 AM to 4:50 AM; however, there is no *Abhijit Muhurat* on this day. Those observing the Apara Ekadashi fast may worship Lord Vishnu and his *Vamana* avatar during the morning hours—specifically during the *Labha-Unnati Muhurat* (05:32 AM to 07:13 AM) or the *Amrit-Sarvottam Muhurat* (07:13 AM to 08:55 AM). In addition to these two periods, the *Shubh-Uttam Muhurat* is available from 10:36 AM until 12:18 PM. Following this time, the *Rahukal* period will commence. Vishkumbha Yoga and Uttara Bhadrapada during Apara Ekadashi
This year, Apara Ekadashi falls during the observance of Vishkumbha Yoga and the Uttara Bhadrapada Nakshatra. Vishkumbha Yoga commences at dawn and continues until 8:55 PM, after which Preeti Yoga begins. Meanwhile, the Uttara Bhadrapada Nakshatra prevails from dawn until 12:17 AM on May 14th, followed by the onset of the Revati Nakshatra.
Apara Ekadashi 2026: Acts of Charity (Daan)
Following the worship rituals for Apara Ekadashi, one should perform the act of donating water. In the month of Jyeshtha, the donation of water is believed to bestow spiritual merit (Punya) and lead to the attainment of salvation (Moksha).
Apara Ekadashi 2026: Parana (Fast-Breaking) Time
If you are observing the Apara Ekadashi fast, the *Parana* (breaking of the fast) will take place on May 14th. The designated time for breaking the fast is between 5:31 AM and 8:14 AM.

The Significance of the Apara Ekadashi Fast
Those who receive instruction from a Guru (spiritual teacher) yet subsequently speak ill of them incur sin. If you have committed such an error—whether intentionally or inadvertently—you should observe the Apara Ekadashi fast and seek forgiveness from Lord Vishnu. Observing this fast is believed to grant liberation from this specific sin.
