Bank Holiday: Are banks closed today? Check whether banks in your city are open or not..

Bank Holiday Today: Banking operations will be suspended for three days next week due to a bank strike. Consequently, banks will remain open on Sunday, September 27. However, if you are planning to visit a bank today—Saturday, September 26—you should first check whether it is open.

Let us find out if banks in your city are closed today, Saturday.

Are banks open today, Saturday?
Banks across India are closed today (Saturday, September 26). In India, banks operate on some Saturdays and remain closed on others. Today is the fourth Saturday of the month; banks across the country remain closed on this day.

All scheduled and non-scheduled banks in India observe a holiday on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. This applies to all major lending institutions, such as the State Bank of India (SBI), HDFC Bank, and ICICI Bank.

Banks remain open on the first, third, and fifth Saturdays of the month, unless a holiday is specified in the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar.

3-Day Nationwide Strike
The decision to keep banks closed today precedes the three-day nationwide bank strike called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) from September 28 to 30. Nevertheless, customers will have an additional opportunity to avail themselves of bank branch services on Sunday, September 27.

The Department of Financial Services has stated that all banks—including public sector banks and regional rural banks—will operate normally on Sunday, September 27, to ensure customers can complete essential banking transactions before the proposed strike.
