Anant Chaturdashi is being observed today, Friday, September 25. Consequently, people are wondering whether banks will remain closed or open today. We would like to inform you that banks will remain open today; the observance of this festival will not impact banking operations across the country. Except for Gangtok (Sikkim), banks will remain open in most parts of the country on Friday.

Since bank holidays are determined based on state-specific and regional calendars, bank branches do not close nationwide for every festival. Banks may remain open in some locations while remaining closed in others.
**Banks Closed on September 25**
While Anant Chaturdashi is being celebrated in India on September 25, banks across the country—with the exception of Gangtok—will remain open. Branches in the rest of the country will operate according to their regular schedules. Customers planning to visit a branch should check their local bank's holiday calendar before leaving home.
Digital banking services such as internet banking, mobile banking, and UPI may remain available even when branches are closed, although service availability depends on the specific bank and the type of transaction.
**Banks to Remain Closed for the Next Five Days**
Although banks are open today, customers should be aware that they will remain closed for an extended period starting September 26. Banks will be closed on Saturday, September 26 (the fourth Saturday of the month), followed by a holiday on Sunday, September 27. Following these two holidays, a nationwide bank strike is proposed for three days, from September 28 to September 30.
Consequently, banking branch services could be disrupted for a prolonged period of five days, from September 26 to September 30. However, the Ministry of Finance has stated that all public sector and regional rural banks will remain open on Sunday, September 27, to enable customers to attend to their banking needs ahead of the proposed three-day bank strike.
Therefore, customers with urgent branch-related work should plan their transactions accordingly.
