Beauty: Does your kohl smudge after application? Discover easy beauty tips to make it last longer..

Kajal has long been an essential part of women's makeup. For centuries, it has been used not only to enhance beauty but also for its traditional and cultural significance. Even today, it is considered the easiest way to make the eyes look attractive and beautiful. When applied correctly, kajal can make the eyes appear larger, deeper, and more striking.

However, kajal often tends to smudge a few hours after application, creating dark patches under the eyes and resulting in a "panda eye" look. Therefore, simply buying a good quality kajal isn't enough; applying it correctly is equally important. If you want your kajal to stay put and keep your eyes looking beautiful all day, follow these simple makeup tips for better results.

What is the right way to apply kajal?

Before applying kajal, ensure the skin around your eyes is clean and oil-free. You can use a light primer or a bit of translucent powder for this. This reduces excess oil and prevents the kajal from smudging quickly.

Instead of applying kajal only to the lower waterline, apply it to the upper waterline as well. This fills in the gaps between the lashes, making them appear thicker.

Keep your hand steady while applying kajal. Rest your elbow on a flat surface, start from the inner corner of the eye, and move outwards using short strokes. This creates a cleaner, more beautiful line.

If you want your kajal to last longer, apply a little black or brown eyeshadow over it. This helps "lock" the kajal in place and reduces the risk of smudging.

Instead of applying kajal across the entire lower lash line, apply it only up to two-thirds of the way. This makes the eyes look more open and attractive.

If the kajal smudges or the line looks uneven, clean it up using a cotton bud dipped in micellar water. This gives a professional finish.
Avoid these mistakes

Do not apply too much kajal to the inner corners of the eyes. Always keep the tip of your kohl pencil sharp, as a blunt tip can result in a thick and uneven line. Applying kohl directly without any preparation can cause it to smudge easily. Also, make sure to remove the kohl before going to bed, as leaving it on can lead to eye irritation and other issues.
