Rules for Establishing the *Chauki* (Altar) during Chaitra Navratri: This year, Chaitra Navratri begins on March 19, 2026. During these nine days of worshipping *Shakti* (the Divine Feminine), devotees establish a *Chauki* (sacred altar) dedicated to Goddess Durga within their homes. However, if any errors occur regarding the direction or specific rituals while establishing the *Chauki*, one may not receive the full spiritual benefits of the worship. The scriptures outline several important rules regarding the establishment of the *Chauki*. Let us explore what these rules are.

Rules for Establishing the *Chauki*
The Goddess's *Chauki* should always be established in the *Ishan Kon* (North-East corner). Worshipping in this specific direction leads to an increase in positive energy. Conversely, if the *Chauki* is placed in an incorrect direction, the efficacy of the worship may be diminished.
Some devotees tend to place multiple idols or images together on the altar. However, according to the scriptures, placing three idols at a single location is considered inauspicious. It is advisable to limit the number of idols to a maximum of two.
The use of the color black is considered inauspicious during Navratri worship. Wearing black clothing or spreading black fabric at the place of worship is deemed inappropriate. Instead, auspicious colors—such as red and yellow—should be utilized.
The *Kalash Sthapana* (installation of the sacred pot) holds special significance. The *Kalash* should be placed to the right of the idol or image of Goddess Durga. If it is positioned incorrectly, the devotee may not attain the full spiritual rewards of the worship.
