It is known that cleaning, painting, and decorating work is progressing at a rapid pace in Durga temples in urban and rural areas for Chaitra Navratri. Sculptors are also creating idols of Goddess Durga on a war footing. An atmosphere of religious fervor and devotion is evident.
Puja committees are making special arrangements for the convenience of devotees. Preparations are also underway to give an attractive look to puja pandals at various places. Devotees are experiencing considerable enthusiasm for Chaitra Navratri.
In this regard, Jagadguru Ramanujacharya Shri Ramchandracharya Paramhans Swami Agamananda Ji Maharaj explained that according to the Devi Bhagavata Purana, there are four Navratris in a year. These four Navratris, celebrated throughout the year, coincide with the changing seasons. Two of these are Gupt Navratri, the third is Sharadiya Navratri, and the fourth is Chaitra Navratri.
He explained that people generally know less about Gupt Navratri, while most are aware of Sharadiya and Chaitra Navratri.
The purpose and religious beliefs of the four Navratris differ. In the Puranas, Chaitra Navratri is considered the basis of self-purification and liberation, while Sharadiya Navratri is considered a festival that bestows prosperity. Swami Agamananda Ji explained that the Hindu New Year begins on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada.

According to religious belief, it was during Chaitra Navratri that Lord Vishnu established the earth in the form of Matsya. During this period, Lord Vishnu also incarnated as Lord Rama. For this reason, Chaitra Navratri is considered to have immense religious significance.
He said that during the nine days of Chaitra Navratri, devotees fast and pray for the fulfillment of their material, physical, spiritual, and tantric desires. During these days, divine power remains with its devotees and helps them fulfill their wishes.
