How to Clean Switch Boards: Switch boards are installed in every room of the house—including toilets, kitchens, and living rooms. While people often opt for switchboards in various colors and designs, white switchboards remain the most common choice found in the majority of homes. However, dirt and grime are quickly visible against a white background; consequently, if your switchboard is white, it tends to look dirty very quickly. This is particularly true for switchboards located in the kitchen; if not cleaned regularly, they quickly become soiled due to exposure to oil, spices, steam, and smoke generated during cooking.

If left unattended, these switchboards cannot be effectively cleaned merely by wiping them down with a cloth. The accumulation of oil, spices, and dust causes them to become dirty and sticky in no time. Furthermore, dirty white switchboards can be quite unsightly. If your switchboards have become sticky and have turned from white to black due to accumulated grime, try the simple cleaning hacks and home remedies outlined below; they will make every switchboard in your home shine like new again.
**Things to Do Before Cleaning Switch Boards**
* First and foremost, turn off the main switch or the primary power supply to your home.
* Never attempt any electrical work—or touch a switchboard—with wet hands.
* Avoid using excessive amounts of water when cleaning switchboards.
**Easy Ways to Clean Switch Boards**
* If the switchboards in your kitchen have become sticky and discolored, you can clean them using a mixture of baking soda and lemon juice. To prepare this solution, mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda with 1 teaspoon of lemon juice. Next, take a cotton ball, a clean cloth, or an old toothbrush; apply the baking soda mixture to it and use it to scrub the switchboard. Finally, wipe the surface clean with a dry cloth. This method effectively removes grease and stubborn stains with ease.
* You can also remove stains, grime, and dirt from switchboards using a solution of white vinegar and water. Simply take one tablespoon each of white vinegar and water, combine them in a bowl, and mix well. Now, apply this mixture to a brush or a cloth and scrub the switchboard. Within a minute, all the dirt and stickiness on the board will vanish.
-You can also clean the switchboard by applying toothpaste to a brush. For this, you will need any standard white toothpaste. Apply a small amount to an old toothbrush; this will help remove the yellowish film that often accumulates on the switchboard. Finally, wipe it down with a clean, dry cloth.
-Use an old toothbrush to remove dirt accumulated in the crevices and corners of the switches. Instead of a regular cloth, you can also use a microfiber cloth to clean the electrical board. This prevents scratches on the switchboard and ensures a thorough cleaning.

Things to Avoid When Cleaning Switchboards:
Do not use excessive water.
Do not apply harsh chemicals directly onto the switches.
Do not use metal objects for cleaning.
Ensure you clean the switchboard at least once or twice a month.
