Remedies for Constipation: You have likely often heard people complaining first thing in the morning that they are unable to clear their bowels. If the stomach does not clear properly, the entire day tends to feel ruined. A sensation of heaviness in the stomach, gas, acidity, and sour belching—all these issues leave us feeling restless. When the stomach isn't cleared effectively, one finds it difficult to focus on any task, nor does one feel any desire to eat. Many people spend hours sitting on the toilet in the morning, struggling to clear their bowels, yet even after all that time, they remain unsuccessful. If you, too, are struggling with this problem, this article is for you. Yogacharya Kuldeep Tyagi recently shared a video on his Instagram, demonstrating a simple method to effectively clear the bowels.
When our stomach does not clear properly, waste products (toxins) begin to accumulate inside the body. These toxins enter the bloodstream, leading to issues such as facial breakouts, lethargy, and irritability. Often, one finds oneself having to rush back to the toilet immediately after eating breakfast. According to the Yogacharya, the solution to this problem lies not in medication, but rather in our posture and our method of drinking water.
Do This for 1 Minute Every Morning to Clear Your Bowels — Best Yoga for Constipation Relief:
Step 1: Drink Water While Seated in *Malasana*
Yogacharya Kuldeep Tyagi suggests that the very first thing you should do in the morning is to sit in the *Malasana* (Garland Pose).
Method: Keep a slight gap between your feet and squat down (similar to how people used to sit for defecation in earlier times). Keep your spine straight.
What to Do: While seated in this position, slowly drink one glass of lukewarm water.
Benefit: Sitting in this position creates pressure on our intestines, which encourages the stool to move downward, thereby creating the sensation of needing to evacuate.
Step 2: *Tiryaka Tadasana* (Swaying Palm Tree Pose)
Immediately after drinking the water, you need to introduce some movement into your body. For this purpose, *Tiryaka Tadasana* is the most effective exercise.
Method: Stand up straight. Interlace the fingers of both hands and, with your palms facing upward, raise your arms toward the sky. While inhaling deeply, stretch your entire body upward. Visualize as if someone is pulling you upwards. Then, while exhaling, return to a relaxed, neutral position.
Step 3 – Body Twisting:
In this final step, you need to gently twist your waist to facilitate the elimination of waste from the abdomen.
Method: While standing, place one hand on your shoulder and move the other hand behind you to your lower back. Now, slowly twist your body backward—once to the right and once to the left.
Benefit: This exercise massages your abdominal organs, thereby helping to eliminate the problem of constipation from its very root.
