Does spilling of milk while boiling really bring negativity in the house? Know what the scriptures say..

Suddenly spilling boiling milk in the kitchen is considered a bad omen. This belief has been coming from old generations that when milk overflows or boils and falls on the stove, it indicates unwanted trouble and unrest in the house. Elders say that spilling of milk can be a sign of discord, dispute, and loss of money. Therefore, caution is always taken while boiling milk in homes. Just as milk is considered sacred and nectar-like, disrespecting it is considered to give inauspicious results. Let us know what the real reason is behind this.

How auspicious is the spilling of milk while heating?

Mahant Swami Kameshwaranand Vedantacharya said that whether it is a gas stove or an old-fashioned earthen stove, spilling of milk is considered a Vastu defect. He said that the milk of a cow, buffalo, goat, or any animal should never fall on the ground, nor should it be allowed to touch the feet. Items like milk and curd should always be kept with respect. Swami Kameshwaranand says that in earlier times, people used to mix the remaining portion of curd or milk in water and drink it so that it would not be considered impure. He said that spilling of boiling milk can affect the happiness, prosperity, and peace of the house.

Citing Ramayana, Swami Kameshwaranand said that while entering Lanka, Hanuman ji saw Ravana's bowl of curd and predicted that the one who left it untouched is going to die. This is the reason why in ancient texts, leaving milk or curd untouched is considered inauspicious and a sign of death.

Milk has special importance in Vastu Shastra.

Swami Kameshwaranand further told that milk, curd, and ghee are called cow-juice and are considered as Amrit. These three have special importance in Vastu Shastra, and their insult can have a negative effect on the happiness and prosperity of the house. Milk, no matter which animal it is from, is considered a symbol of the mother. This is the reason why even today in society, sayings like "Maa ka doodh piya hai toh..." are heard.

Swami Kameshwaranand says that milk is not only a source of nutrition but also a symbol of faith and purity. Spilling milk or disrespecting it can affect the happiness, prosperity, and peace of the house. Therefore, even today people take special care while boiling milk at home so that this nectar-like drink is not disrespected.
