The EPFO ​​has released a major update regarding the Digital Life Certificate (DLC) that will significantly benefit all pensioners. Let us explain what this new EPFO ​​update entails.

Why does the pension stop?
Pensioners often face a sudden stoppage of their pension. A major reason for this is the failure to submit the Digital Life Certificate (DLC)—or *Jeevan Pramaan Patra*—on time. To ensure the pension continues to be credited to your account, it is essential to submit the life certificate punctually every year. This certificate remains valid for one year from the date of submission.

What has the EPFO ​​announced?
The EPFO ​​announced on its social media handle (X) that you no longer need to worry about the hassle of submitting your DLC. You can easily submit your life certificate from the comfort of your home using your smartphone. In fact, the EPFO ​​has collaborated with India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) to launch a doorstep service, which is completely free of charge. To avail of this, simply call the toll-free number 023202900. An IPPB postal representative will visit your home to facilitate the submission of your DLC.

If you prefer not to use the IPPB service, you can still submit your DLC from home using the UMANG App:

Download the UMANG App and the Aadhaar Face RD App on your phone.
Navigate to the 'Jeevan Pramaan Patra' section within the UMANG App and click on 'Generate Life Certificate'.
Select the 'Face Authentication' option and enter your Aadhaar and mobile numbers.
Enter the OTP you receive to proceed.
Finally, enter your PPO (Pension Payment Order) number, sanctioning authority details, bank name, and account number. Select the appropriate options regarding re-employment and re-marriage status, and check the corresponding boxes.
Next, grant the necessary permissions to the Aadhaar Face RD app; the camera will activate, allowing you to scan your face.
Once this is done, your DLC will be submitted!

How to check the status:
After submitting your DLC, you will receive a message on your registered mobile number containing a 'Praman ID'. You can use this ID to check the status of your DLC by visiting the Pensioner Portal on the EPFO ​​website.
