Whether it is the morning rush or preparing tiffin boxes for the kids, it is often hard to decide what to make that is tasty, healthy, and quick to prepare. If you face this dilemma every morning, there is no need to worry anymore.

Today, we bring you a delicious recipe for Potato-Onion Uttapam. This is a dish that will instantly light up the faces of children, and adults will enjoy it just as much. The best part is that you don't need to spend hours in the kitchen; it can be prepared in minutes using simple ingredients found at home. Let’s look at the simple method to make it.

**Ingredients for Potato-Onion Uttapam**
Semolina (Sooji/Rava): 1 cup
Curd (Yogurt): ½ cup
Raw potato: 1
Onion: 1 large
Green chilies: 1-2, finely chopped
Fresh coriander leaves: 2 tablespoons
Salt: To taste
Chaat masala or black pepper powder: ½ teaspoon
Water: To make the batter
Oil or butter: For cooking the uttapam

**Method for Making Potato-Onion Uttapam**
First, mix the semolina and curd thoroughly in a large bowl. Gradually add water to create a thick batter. Ensure the batter does not become too runny; it should have a consistency similar to idli batter. Add salt to taste, cover the bowl, and let it rest for 10–15 minutes so the semolina can soak up the liquid and swell properly.

While the semolina rests, prepare the topping. Squeeze the grated raw potato with your hands to remove all the excess water. In a separate bowl, combine the potato, finely chopped onion, green chilies, fresh coriander, and a little chaat masala or black pepper powder; mix everything well.

After 15 minutes, check the semolina batter. If it appears too thick, add a little more water. Now, place a non-stick tawa (griddle) or pan on the stove and let it heat up slightly. Add a few drops of oil or butter to the tawa (griddle) and spread it evenly.
Once the tawa is hot, reduce the heat to medium. Pour a large spoonful of batter into the center and spread it gently, keeping it slightly thick; unlike a dosa, it should not be spread too thin.

Immediately after spreading the batter, evenly distribute the prepared potato-onion topping over it. Lightly press the topping down with a spoon so it sets into the batter. Drizzle a little oil around the edges and let it cook for 2–3 minutes until the bottom turns golden brown.

Once the bottom is well-cooked, carefully flip it over. Cook the other side until the potato and onion turn light golden and crispy. Once cooked thoroughly on both sides, transfer it to a plate.

Your piping hot, crispy, and delicious Potato-Onion Uttapam is ready. Serve it with coconut chutney, mint-green chutney, or tomato ketchup—a favorite among children.

Believe me, it tastes so amazing that children will finish their entire tiffin before coming home, and adults will ask for this breakfast every weekend.
