Gold Price Today: Gold prices have witnessed a surge once again. Typically, gold prices should decline following an interest rate hike by the US central bank, but the trend observed here is the opposite; gold prices are fluctuating unpredictably, rising and falling suddenly.

What is the gold price today?
On September 16, 2026, the US Federal Reserve raised its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points, bringing it to a target range of 3.75% to 4.00%. This marked the central bank's first rate hike since July 2023. The Fed raised rates to combat soaring inflation in the US. Although a sharp drop in gold prices was initially observed following the rate hike, prices have begun to rise again just two days later.
On the MCX, the gold futures contract for October 5, 2026, saw a rise of ₹1,282. It closed at ₹1,54,263 per 10 grams yesterday. Meanwhile, the IBJA rate for 10 grams of 24-carat gold stands at ₹1,53,727.
