Hair Care: How often should you wash your hair if you have dandruff? How to get rid of dandruff in winter? know..

How to treat dandruff in winter: Dandruff is a very common problem during the winter season. Cold air, dry scalp, and poor hair care habits can worsen the condition. People often become perplexed about how often to wash their hair, which shampoo to use, and whether it's appropriate to apply oil. Dermatologist Nirupama Parvanda shared a video on her Instagram handle on this topic. In this video, the expert explains three easy and effective steps that can be followed to significantly reduce dandruff. Let's learn about them:

How to get rid of dandruff in winter?
Number 1 - Wash your hair at the right time and with the right shampoo.
Dr. Parvanda explains that the method of washing your hair is crucial when you have dandruff. Washing your hair 2 to 3 times a week is essential. This keeps the scalp clean and reduces the likelihood of fungus growth. Additionally, use an anti-dandruff shampoo once every other week. Choose shampoos that contain ingredients like Ketoconazole, Ciclopirox, and Selenium Sulfide. These ingredients help reduce fungus on the scalp, which is a major cause of dandruff. Leave the shampoo on the scalp for at least 2-3 minutes to allow it to work effectively.

Number 2 - Avoid Oiling
Many people think that oiling their hair will reduce dandruff, but it can have the opposite effect. Doctors say that applying oil to the scalp during dandruff can worsen the fungus. Therefore, avoid oiling until your dandruff problem is resolved.

Number 3 - Deep Condition
Anti-dandruff shampoos often dry out the scalp and hair. In such situations, hair becomes dry and brittle. To prevent this, apply a good conditioner after every shampoo. This not only softens hair but also maintains scalp moisture. If desired, you can also apply a deep conditioning hair mask once a week.

By paying attention to small things like this, you can eliminate the problem of dandruff in winter.
