Best Time for Hair Oiling: Are you also confused about whether to apply oil to your hair in the morning or at night? The tradition of oiling—passed down from our grandmothers—is the most effective method for nourishing hair and preventing hair loss. However, people often fail to reap the full benefits due to a lack of knowledge regarding the right timing. While applying oil in the morning adds shine, leaving it on overnight provides deep nourishment to the roots. If you desire long, thick, and strong hair, learn the best time and method for oiling.

Why is hair oiling important?
The head massages (champi) given by mothers or grandmothers during childhood laid the foundation for healthy hair. Today, factors like pollution, hard water, chemical treatments, heat styling, and stress cause hair to quickly lose its vitality and fall out. In this context, oiling is the most natural way to nourish your hair.
A gentle scalp massage improves blood circulation, allowing oxygen and essential nutrients to easily reach the hair roots. It reduces scalp dryness, prevents breakage, and strengthens the roots.
Effects of morning oiling—
If you prefer applying oil in the morning, the best approach is to apply it 30 minutes to two hours before washing your hair. Morning oiling is an excellent option for those with an excessively oily scalp, those prone to scalp acne, or those who feel irritated or uncomfortable sleeping with oil in their hair.
However, applying oil in the morning does not allow enough time for deep nourishment of the roots. Additionally, if you step out with oiled hair, dust, dirt, and pollutants tend to stick to your hair and scalp. Therefore, while oiling in the morning is fine for adding shine and conditioning, it proves somewhat limited when it comes to hair growth.
The benefits of oiling at night—
If your primary goal is to grow long, thick hair and stop hair fall at the root, then night-time oiling is the most effective method. When applied at night, the oil stays on the scalp for 6 to 8 hours, allowing its moisture and nutrients to penetrate deep into the roots.
Our body enters 'repair mode' while we sleep. At night, stress hormone levels drop, and the scalp absorbs nutrients more efficiently. Massaging the scalp with lukewarm oil at night relieves the day's fatigue, promoting deep sleep. Reduced stress directly helps prevent hair loss.
The right way to oil your hair—
Warm the oil slightly: Slightly warm oil is absorbed more easily by the scalp.
Massage with your fingertips: Always massage gently using your fingertips; using your fingernails can cause scalp infections.
Do not apply too much oil: There is no need to saturate the hair; simply apply enough oil to the roots. Excess oil requires more shampoo to wash off, which can leave the hair dry.
Coconut oil, sesame oil, Bhringraj oil, or castor oil (mixed with a lighter oil) are considered the most beneficial options for night-time use.

Night-time oiling is widely considered the best method for rapid hair growth and regrowth. However, consistency is what matters most. Try deep oiling one night a week and applying a light coat of oil before washing your hair on another morning; this routine will help keep your hair long, thick, and shiny.
