Every year, women eagerly wait for Hartalika Teej. Haritalika Teej is celebrated on the Tritiya Tithi of the Shukla Paksha of the Bhadrapada month. This festival is mainly a fast of women, and its significance is very deep from both mythological and spiritual perspectives. There has been a tradition of offering traditional sweet Gujiya in this festival, and it is also very popular in North India.

The Tritiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadra month is celebrated as Hartalika Teej. This year, this festival will be celebrated on 26 August. On this special day, women observe a Nirjala fast with the wish of unbroken good fortune. Traditional sweets have special significance in this fast. It is considered auspicious to offer Gujiya in worship. In some areas, it is also called Pedakiya. On the occasion of Hartalika Teej, many temporary shops of Gujiya also open in the markets. Those who are not able to make it at home can buy it from the markets.

Importance of Hartalika Teej
Hartalika Teej has a lot of importance in festivals. Wishes are fulfilled by keeping Teej fast. Women observe fasts to maintain peace in married life and for the long life of their husband. They worship Lord Shiva after adorning themselves with sixteen adornments. Hartalika Teej is a waterless fast. In many places, unmarried girls also observe a waterless fast to get their desired life partner. It is believed that Mother Parvati also performed a tough penance to get Lord Shiva.
