People often turn to homeopathic medicines with hope when struggling with an illness. Many patients take the medication for months, but when they find no relief, they often conclude that "homeopathy made no difference." However, Dr. Rajita, a homeopathic specialist at the Ambala City Civil Hospital, notes that the medicine is not always ineffective; often, minor acts of negligence by patients become the biggest obstacles to successful treatment. In reality, homeopathic treatment is not merely about taking medication; it is a therapeutic approach based on a disciplined lifestyle.

**Precautions Alongside Medication Are Essential**
Dr. Rajita explains that when doctors prescribe homeopathic medicines, they also advise on necessary precautions. However, most people do not take these seriously. Consequently, the illness persists, and the patient gradually becomes disheartened.
**Knowing the Correct Way to Take Medication**
She points out that the method of administration varies for each homeopathic medicine. Some must be taken on an empty stomach, while others need to be consumed about 20 minutes before or after a meal. It is also advised to avoid drinking water during this interval. Yet, in their haste, people often consume tea, coffee, or water immediately after taking the medicine, which can diminish its effectiveness.
**Proper Storage and Consumption**
According to Dr. Rajita, the way the medicine is stored is also crucial. Homeopathic medicines should be kept away from direct sunlight, heat, and strong odors. Additionally, the cap of the medicine bottle must always be tightly closed. She notes that many patients handle the pills directly with their hands, whereas they should use the bottle cap or a clean spoon to dispense them and allow them to dissolve slowly under the tongue.
**Pay Attention to Diet and Daily Routine**
She adds that while taking certain medicines, patients are advised to abstain from consuming items with strong odors, such as onions, garlic, cardamom, asafoetida (hing), and ginger. However, in today's fast-paced life, people often consume fried foods, fast food, and spicy snacks alongside their medication. There is a growing trend, especially among children, of eating instant noodles (like Maggi), chowmein, and junk food in the evening, which can interfere with the treatment process.
Dr. Rajita noted that while many parents ensure their children take their medication on time, they often overlook their daily routines. Habits such as using mobile phones late into the night, not getting enough sleep, and a lack of physical activity also negatively impact health.
**Self-medication can prove costly**
She recommended practicing yoga and light exercise in the morning, as these activities enhance bodily function and aid recovery. She also expressed serious concern regarding the trend of people self-medicating with homeopathic remedies after looking up medicine names on the internet. According to her, taking medication without consulting a specialist doctor can lead to major complications down the line.

Dr. Rajita emphasizes that, alongside the medication, patients must exercise patience, adhere to dietary restrictions, and strictly follow the doctor's advice. She maintains that homeopathy is not a miracle cure but a treatment method rooted in discipline and proper adherence to guidelines. The true efficacy of the treatment becomes apparent only when the patient maintains discipline alongside the medication.
