Health: Include these things in your diet, high blood pressure will remain under control and kidneys will remain strong..

Are you suffering from high blood pressure and kidney problems? If yes, then the solution doesn't need to lie only in medicines. A simple fruit or green vegetable on your plate can prove to be as effective for your body as any medicine. Recent research has made it clear that adding fruits and vegetables to the daily diet not only keeps the blood pressure stable, but also improves the functioning of the kidneys and reduces the risk of heart attack.

Five-year-long study

Research was conducted for 5 years at the University of Texas, Austin, America. In this, 153 patients suffering from high blood pressure and macroalbuminuria were divided into three groups.

First group – 2 to 4 cups of such vegetables and fruits were given in the daily diet, which reduces the acidity of the body.

Second group – They were given 4–5 tablets of 650 mg of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) every day.

Third group – Only general medical treatment was provided to these people.

Why is macroalbuminuria dangerous?

This problem indicates chronic kidney disease. If not taken care of in time, the risk of kidney failure increases in the patient. Not only this, the risk of heart attack and stroke can also increase manifold due to this.

What did the research reveal?

The results of the study were surprising. Improvement in kidney function was seen with both fruits and vegetables and baking soda. But the difference was that only fruits and vegetables proved effective in reducing blood pressure and the risk of heart disease. Baking soda did not show this effect.

The dose of medicines also reduced

Another positive aspect of the research was that the amount of medicines for BP and heart disease of the patients who were eating fruits and vegetables daily was reduced. That is, they got good results even on low doses. This means that nutritious food can reduce dependence on medicines.

What do experts say?

Dr. Maninder Kahlon, associated with the study, says, “Both fruits and vegetables and baking soda can be helpful in kidney health. But blood pressure control and prevention of heart diseases are possible only with fruits and vegetables. Therefore, high blood pressure patients should make them an important part of their diet.”
