The habit of sitting for long periods of time is considered the root cause of many diseases. Office workers often spend 8-9 hours daily sitting, a concern that doctors caution against. The habit of sitting in one position for long periods of time gradually weakens our bodies. Sitting in the same position increases the risk of back and waist pain significantly among young people. Furthermore, prolonged sitting also increases the risk of chronic diseases like obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and even arthritis.

A review of medical reports reveals that a significant portion of young people suffer from back and waist pain. This problem is more prevalent among office workers or those who have to sit for long periods of time. The question is, how can one find relief from this problem?
To reduce back and waist pain caused by prolonged sitting, health experts have suggested the 30-15 rule, which can be very beneficial.
Back Pain in Office Workers
Doctors say it's important for office workers to make some adjustments to their work habits. Getting up every 30-40 minutes and taking a few steps, stretching, and using the right chair and sitting in the right position are essential. These small changes not only reduce back pain but also relax the muscles.
Adopting the 30-15 rule can also help relieve back pain.
The 30:15 rule can help with back pain.
An Australian study found that alternating 30 minutes of sitting and 15 minutes of standing or walking can be very beneficial for reducing pain and improving focus.
The three-month study included 56 desk workers who already used sit-stand desks. All participants had lower back pain. Half of them followed a 30:15 schedule, while the rest created personalized routines with the help of a physiotherapist.

How to get relief from back pain?
The study report showed that people who adopted the habit of sitting for 30 minutes and standing for 15 minutes experienced a reduction in back pain over time. Approximately 72% of people followed this schedule at least five times a day, and most of them reported relief from pain.
Doctors say that the 30:15 ratio helps relax the body and keep muscles healthy. Sitting for more than 30 minutes and standing for more than 15 minutes can cause back strain. Therefore, the 30:15 rule can be very beneficial for office workers.
