Significance of Devshayani Ekadashi
On the day of Devshayani Ekadashi, Lord Shri Hari Vishnu enters a state of cosmic slumber (*Yoganidra*) on the bed of Sheshnag in the *Kshir Sagar* (Ocean of Milk). This marks the beginning of *Chaturmas*, a period spanning four months. According to the scriptures, observing the Devshayani Ekadashi fast and worshipping Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi with proper rituals brings happiness, prosperity, and peace into one's life. It is believed that observing a fast and engaging in prayer, penance, charity, and the chanting of Lord Vishnu's mantras with devotion on this day destroys sins and yields imperishable merit (*punya*). Religious beliefs hold that donating food, clothing, water, and alms (*dakshina*) to the needy on this day attracts the special grace of Lord Vishnu. Therefore, Devshayani Ekadashi is considered an extremely auspicious and fruitful festival for devotion, fasting, and virtuous deeds.

How to Worship Laddu Gopal on Devshayani Ekadashi
On the day of Devshayani Ekadashi, bathe during the *Brahma Muhurta* (early morning hours) or after sunrise and wear clean, yellow, or light-colored clothes. Afterward, purify the place of worship with *Gangajal* (holy water from the Ganges) and place Laddu Gopal on a ceremonial seat (*asana*). Begin by bathing the deity with pure water. Next, perform the *Abhishek* (ritual bathing) using *Panchamrit*. *Panchamrit* is prepared using milk, curd, ghee, honey, and rock sugar (*mishri*) or regular sugar. After the *Abhishek*, bathe the deity again with *Gangajal* (holy water from the Ganges) or clean water, and then wipe Him dry with a soft, clean cloth.

**Adorning Laddu Gopal on Devshayani Ekadashi**
After the bath, dress Laddu Gopal in new, clean clothes. Wearing a yellow outfit is considered especially auspicious on Devshayani Ekadashi. Adorn Him beautifully with accessories such as a peacock-feather crown, a flute, a *Vaijayanti* garland, bracelets, a waist belt (*kardhani*), and other ornaments. Apply a *tilak* of sandalwood paste or saffron to His forehead and offer yellow flowers—particularly marigolds—along with *Tulsi* (holy basil) leaves. Worship of Lord Vishnu and Shri Krishna is considered incomplete without *Tulsi*.

**Offering *Bhog* (Sacred Food) to Laddu Gopal on Devshayani Ekadashi**
Offer only *Sattvic* (pure and wholesome) food items. Offerings may include *Makhan-Mishri* (butter and rock sugar), *Kheer* (rice pudding), *Panjiri*, *Panchamrit*, *Besan Ladoo* (gram flour sweets), fruits, dry fruits, and seasonal fruits. If the offering is prepared in accordance with fasting rules, it must not contain garlic, onions, or *Tamasic* ingredients. After making the offering, chant the Vishnu mantra or "Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya" and perform the *Aarti*. On Devshayani Ekadashi, lovingly put Laddu Gopal to rest on a bed prepared with a beautiful seat of flowers, yellow mustard seeds, and a touch of perfume.
