Millions of people reach their destinations via Indian Railways every day. The railways take several measures to ensure women's journeys are safe and comfortable, such as providing ladies' coaches or seats reserved specifically for women.

However, did you know that the ticket booking system contains a special feature for solo female travelers—one that most passengers are still unaware of?
**No seats allocated amidst solo male passengers**
Whenever a woman books a train ticket via IRCTC without a companion, the system prioritizes her safety above all else. Under this specific rule, a solo female traveler is never allocated a seat in a compartment where all other passengers are men.
Consider a simple example: suppose a cabin has a total of six seats. If five seats are already booked by men, the sixth vacant seat will not be reserved for a solo woman. Instead, the railway system ensures she is allotted a seat in a cabin where at least one other female passenger is already traveling.
**Priority for 'lower berths' if aged over 45**
Beyond safety, the railways also prioritize physical comfort. If a female traveler is over 45 years of age, she is given priority for a lower berth during ticket booking. This rule also applies to elderly and differently-abled passengers.
Sometimes, one might accidentally get an upper berth while booking a ticket. In such cases, women need not worry; they can simply speak to the TTE (Train Ticket Examiner) during the journey to have their seat changed to a lower berth.
