Many working professionals also observe fasts on Mondays of the *Sawan* month and on other religious occasions. However, maintaining energy levels throughout the day amidst back-to-back meetings, long office hours, commuting, and mental stress can be challenging. Fasting without proper preparation can lead to fatigue, dizziness, headaches, or weakness. Therefore, experts advise planning your diet and daily routine carefully, keeping your body's needs in mind while fasting.

If your fast allows for a morning meal, do not start your day with just tea or coffee. Instead, opt for foods like milk, yogurt, fruits, fox nuts (*makhana*), peanuts, sago (*sabudana*), dishes made from water chestnut flour (*singhara atta*), or a handful of dry fruits. The carbohydrates, proteins, and healthy fats found in these foods can help sustain energy levels for a longer period. Consuming too many deep-fried fasting snacks can lead to lethargy or a feeling of heaviness during the day.
**Do not neglect hydration**
If the rules of your fast permit water intake, ensure you drink adequate amounts throughout the day. Dehydration can cause fatigue, headaches, and difficulty concentrating. Coconut water, lemon water (if permitted during the fast), or other sugar-free fluids can also help keep the body hydrated. However, for fasts that require total abstinence from water (*nirjala*), one must pay special attention to their physical limits and health.
**Keep healthy snacks at the office**
Often, meetings or work commitments make it difficult to eat on time. In such situations, carrying fasting-friendly snacks—such as fruits, roasted fox nuts, almonds, walnuts, or other permitted items—is a good option. This prevents prolonged hunger and helps maintain energy levels.
**Listen to your body's signals**
If you experience frequent dizziness, extreme weakness, sweating, or blurred vision while fasting, do not ignore these symptoms. It is advisable for the elderly, pregnant women, and individuals suffering from diabetes, kidney disease, heart disease, or other serious health conditions to consult their doctor before fasting. Respecting the body's needs is just as important as observing one's faith.
