Severe Weather Expected in Eastern and Central India
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert predicting thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds across eastern and central India between March 20 and 23. The most significant weather disturbances are expected on March 20 and 22, particularly affecting West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Odisha. Authorities have urged residents in these states to stay alert and take necessary precautions.
Relief from Heatwave in Odisha
Odisha has been experiencing intense heat and heatwave conditions in its northern interior regions. However, a temperature drop is expected from March 19, offering relief. Meanwhile, hailstorms have been reported in Uttarakhand, Assam, and Jharkhand over the last 24 hours. Strong winds have also been observed in Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Gangetic West Bengal.

Storms and Heavy Winds Expected
Due to winds from the Bay of Bengal, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Odisha will experience strong winds (40-60 km/h) along with light to moderate rain from March 20 to 22. Hailstorms are expected in:
- Bihar – March 21-22
- Jharkhand – March 20
- Odisha – March 20-22
In northeastern states, Arunachal Pradesh will experience continuous rain and snowfall for the next five days, while light to moderate rain is expected in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.
North India Weather Forecast
The IMD predicts that the maximum temperature in Northwest India will rise by 2-3°C over the next three days. In Central India and Maharashtra, temperatures will remain stable for 24 hours before dropping by 2-4°C. East India will see a stable temperature for three days, followed by a decrease of 3-5°C. Gujarat’s temperature will stay steady for four days and then rise by 2-3°C.

- March 19: Light fog in the morning, daytime temperature between 31-33°C.
