England batsman Harry Brook has terminated his contract with Delhi Capitals ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) starting on March 22, for which he may face a two-year ban from playing in this tournament. This is the second consecutive season that this 26-year-old England player has made himself unavailable for the IPL. For this, he apologized to the franchise and its supporters.

Brook wrote on social media, 'I have made a very difficult decision to withdraw from the next season of IPL. I apologize unconditionally to Delhi Capitals and their supporters.' He said, 'This is a really important time for England cricket and I want to be fully committed to preparing for the upcoming series.'

Brook said, 'For this, I need time to refresh myself after the busiest phase of my career so far. I know not everyone will understand this and I don't expect them to either, but I have to do what I think is right, and playing for my country is my priority and my full focus is on this.'

Brook had also withdrawn from the last season of IPL due to the death of his grandmother. According to the rules related to IPL of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), if a foreign player does not play in this tournament in the event of not being unfit after being selected in the auction, then he can be banned from playing in the IPL for two years.

According to the document shared by the BCCI with the teams last year, 'Any (foreign) player who registers for the auction and after being selected in the auction declares himself unavailable before the start of the season will be banned from participating in the IPL and IPL auction for two seasons.'
