Comedian-actor Kapil Sharma's film 'Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2' was released on December 12. This film is a sequel to his 2015 comedy film of the same name. Directed by Anukalp Goswami, the film features Manjot Singh, Ayesha Khan, Tridha Choudhury, Govardhan Asrani, Vipin Sharma, and other actors.
Scheduled for release on January 9
However, due to stiff competition from Ranveer Singh's 'Dhruva', Kapil's film bombed at the box office. 'Dhruva' was released on December 5 and broke several box office records. Following this, the filmmakers decided to re-release the film to give audiences another chance to see it. It was scheduled to be released in theaters this Friday, January 9. However, the re-release has now been canceled.
What is the reason behind this?
A source told Bollywood Hungama, "Star Studios 18, which is the studio partner and distributor of 'Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2', had negotiated for 500 screens for the re-release. But they were only able to secure 200-250 screens. Also, the timings for most of the shows were not ideal. The producers of 'Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2', Venus, were not satisfied with this release plan. Consequently, on Thursday evening, January 8, the decision was made to cancel the re-release of the film."
