Unmarried Couples Are Not Allowed Entry into Temple: Rath Yatra, the biggest and holiest festival of devotees of Lord Krishna in Jagannath Puri temple of Odisha, is starting on 27 June 2025 this year. This journey, which starts from the second date of Ashadh Shukla Paksha, attracts millions of devotees to Puri every year. Devotees from all over the country and abroad come to participate in this grand event, where the chariots of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra go on a city tour with full rituals.

This temple of Puri is not only a center of devotion and faith, but it is associated with many such mysteries that even science has not been able to explain clearly to date. One of these traditions is that unmarried lovers are not allowed to enter the temple premises. According to religious beliefs, this rule is to maintain the sanctity and dignity of the temple. It is believed that the temple premises do not accept premarital relationships, and only traditional and married devotees are allowed darshan here.

Entry of unmarried lovers prohibited

According to a famous legend, once Radha Rani came to the Jagannath temple to see Shri Krishna, but the priests stopped her from entering the temple. The reason given was that she was Shri Krishna's lover, and according to the tradition of the temple, unmarried lovers were not allowed to enter. Hurt, Radha Rani cursed that any unmarried lover couple who enters the temple together, their love will never be fulfilled. It is believed that this rule remained since then, and even today devotees follow this tradition.
