Lakme Fashion Week: Lakme Fashion Week 2025 showcases a unique blend of fashion and art; see photos here..

Lakme Fashion Week 2025 kicked off with a bang in India's fashion capital on October 8th. Collaborating with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), the opening night of this fashion week presented audiences with a unique blend of traditional and contemporary fashion.

Three designers—Akaro, Anavila, and The Edit—showcased a unique glimpse of Indian art and craft through their stunning collections.

The opening night began with Anavila's soft and elegant collection. Her show was like a visual poem, presenting linen and organza fabrics in a fluid and minimalist style. Soft shades like pastel blush pink, muted yellow, and pale green added a striking appeal to her collection. Organza saris flowed on the runway, styled with blouses featuring tassels and plunging necklines.

AKARO - A Combination of Contemporary and Geometry

Next, Gaurav Jai Gupta's label AKARO took the stage and infused the atmosphere with new energy. Through metallic silks, iridescent hues, and sculptural silhouettes, they gave Indian textiles a modern twist. Models in oversized blazers, metallic shirts, and long, flowy skirts captured everyone's attention.

The Edit by The Kunj - A Beautiful Embodiment of Tradition

The third and final show of the opening night was The Edit by The Kunj, which presented Indian handicrafts in a new light. The collection included beautiful handwoven drapes from Khamir, Iro Iro, Pieux, and many other brands. Chettinad and temple border saris presented traditional crafts in a modern way.

A Glimpse of Culture with Fashion on Stage
The special evening was made even more memorable by a live performance by Bharatnatyam dancer Suhail Bhan. The opening show featured several fashion and textile industry leaders, including Sunil Sethi, Amrit Raj, and Orsola De Castro. FDCI's 'Sustainable Fashion Dictionary' was also launched on the same platform.
