Lockie Ferguson: Shock to the team before Champions Trophy, fast bowler injured, difficult to play..

New Zealand's main fast bowler Lockie Ferguson is doubtful to play in the Champions Trophy due to a hamstring injury, in which the team has to play its first match in this ODI tournament against Pakistan. He suffered a hamstring injury during the International League T20 match in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Due to this he is troubled by the injury.

New Zealand will play its first Group A match in the Champions Trophy against Pakistan at the National Stadium in Karachi on February 19. Coach Gary Stead confirmed that the key bowler has undergone a scan to know the severity of the injury. New Zealand also has to play a tri-series before the Champions Trophy in which Pakistan and South Africa are the other two teams.

Before the start of the tri-series match against Pakistan in Lahore on Saturday, the ICC quoted Stead as saying, "Lockie had a scan in the United Arab Emirates yesterday (Thursday). We are waiting for the report from our radiologist, which will tell us about its severity." Stead said that a decision regarding Ferguson can be taken after consulting experts.
