Kirti Dwivedi, a student of BA third year Economics department, who is researching how the saints who come to Kumbh are living for about 45 days, says that the main source of income for the saints living here is the offerings of the devotees.

Kirti Dwivedi said that the saints here generate their income by making arrangements for the stay of the devotees coming here along with offerings. Apart from this, if any big devotee of theirs comes, he leaves after making a big donation. Some saints also generate revenue by giving religious items prepared by them such as Rudraksha garland, Tulsi garland and other religious items to the devotees at reasonable prices.

How do they make a living? What facilities are available?

A grand city is established on the sand of Sangam in no time. Lakhs of saints stay here and do meditation and penance, but how do they make a living? Ashutosh Kesarwani of Allahabad University, who is doing research on this and is a BA third-year student of the Economics Department, tells that the life of the saints living here is very difficult. Neither are they getting pure water, nor electricity.

Ashutosh, who has done such research on about 35 sages, says that there are some silent sages and some household sages, who become sages only in Maha Kumbh. After this, they start living a household life. Like they run a clothes shop or find some other means of earning. He said that here pure Rudraksha garland is sold to devotees for ₹ 50 to 100 rupees. Inside the fair, this garland is available for ₹ 300. The sages and saints earn from this too. He told that in these 45 days, the sages and saints do not get any special facility from the administration.
