Moong Dal Ladoo Recipe: If you are craving something sweet but want to avoid sugar and jaggery, Moong Dal Ladoos are a great option. Moong dal is considered a good source of protein, and ladoos made from it make for an excellent snack to satisfy light hunger pangs in the evening. You do not need sugar or jaggery to make them; instead, you can use dates or any natural sweetener of your choice. Let’s look at the easy recipe...

Ingredients for making Moong Dal Ladoos
1 cup washed moong dal (split yellow moong lentils)
8-10 pitted dates
2-3 tablespoons ghee
2 tablespoons almonds or cashews
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
½ teaspoon cardamom powder
1-2 tablespoons milk or water
How to make Moong Dal Ladoos

To make Moong Dal Ladoos, first, clean and wash the moong dal thoroughly and drain all the water. Let the dal dry for a while. Next, heat a pan, add the moong dal, and roast it over a low flame while stirring continuously. It is important to roast the dal until it turns light golden and releases a pleasant aroma; be careful not to let the dal burn.

Allow the roasted dal to cool down, then grind it in a mixer into a fine powder. Now, heat a little ghee in the same pan, add the ground moong dal, and roast it on a low flame for a few minutes. Turn off the heat once the dal starts releasing a pleasant aroma.

Next, chop the dates into small pieces and grind them in a mixer; you can add a very small amount of milk or water if needed. Lightly roast the chopped nuts and sesame seeds in a separate pan.

Finally, add the date paste, nuts, sesame seeds, and cardamom powder to the roasted moong dal and mix everything well. Allow the mixture to cool down slightly. Once the mixture has cooled enough to handle, lightly grease your hands with ghee and shape the mixture into round *laddus*.

A Blend of Health and Taste
Moong dal is rich in protein, fiber, and various essential nutrients. Dates provide natural sweetness, while nuts contribute healthy fats and other nutrients. However, since dates contain natural sugar, individuals with diabetes or those following a specific diet should be mindful of portion sizes.
