While most of us are aware of this, did you know that the *Harivansha Purana* describes it as a wish-fulfilling tree? Parijat flowers bloom under the light of the moon at midnight—rather than in sunlight—and fall to the ground by morning.

**Rules for Offering Parijat Flowers**
The Parijat flower is dear to Lord Shiva. Devotees believe that offering this flower to Mahadev not only fulfills wishes but also ensures the worship bears fruit.

However, there are specific rules regarding offering these flowers to the *Shivling*. It is believed that one should never pluck the flower directly from the plant for worship; doing so could render the worship of Lord Shiva fruitless.

The Parijat flower is unique in that it is offered to the deity after being picked up directly from the ground. Furthermore, it does not require washing, as the scriptures deem it extremely pure. Offering the flower in this manner invokes the special grace of Mahadev.

**Vastu Significance of the Parijat Plant**
Although often viewed merely as an ornamental plant, the Parijat holds a deep place in Indian mythology and spiritual practices. According to Hindu mythology, the Parijat plant emerged from the *Samudra Manthan* (Churning of the Ocean).

It is considered a divine flower. Legend has it that Lord Krishna brought it to Earth for his beloved Rukmini. In Hindu worship, temples, and religious rituals, these flowers—symbolizing purity, love, and spiritual devotion—are offered to the deities.

**Medicinal Properties of the Parijat Plant**
Beyond its spiritual significance, the Parijat plant is highly valued for its medicinal properties. Its stem, leaves, flowers, bark, and seeds are all considered beneficial for health. Fragrant perfumes are also made from this plant.
