Parenting Tips: Every parent wants their child to be healthy. For the first six months of life, breast milk is the best and most essential food for the baby. During this time, the nutrients in breast milk are sufficient for the baby. Only after six months is the baby introduced to semi-solid food. This raises many questions for parents. For example, what can be fed to the baby after six months, and what should be avoided? Another question is: when should spices be added to the baby's food? Can a baby be given spicy food after six months? Let's find out from experts:

What do experts say?
Recognized pediatrician Sandeep Gupta shared a video on his Instagram handle regarding this. In the video, the doctor explains that after six months, it's best to initially give the baby simple and light foods so that their stomach can easily digest them. For example, rice puree, lentil water, apple, carrot, or sapota puree. This allows the child to gradually adjust to new tastes.
When the child is 7 to 8 months old, you can introduce mild spices into their diet. You can cook with small amounts of turmeric, cumin, coriander, or asafoetida at this time. However, it's important not to add all the spices at once. Start with one spice and add another after a few days to avoid any allergies or reactions.
After 8 months, the child begins to recognize the mild flavors of spices. These spices help improve both the taste and digestion of food. However, after the child turns 1 year old, you can add mild spices like black pepper in very small quantities.

Always keep in mind that children's stomachs are very sensitive, so always add spices in limited quantities and use fresh spices. Avoid ready-made spice mixes or very spicy spices.
Gradually introducing the child to spicy flavors not only develops their taste buds but also strengthens their digestive system.
