Pea Toast Recipe: Mornings often fly by in a rush. Whether it's getting to the office, sending the kids to school, or finishing other household chores, it's difficult to spend much time on breakfast. But that doesn't mean you have to eat a boring or unhealthy breakfast every day. If you want a quick, filling, and delicious breakfast, pea toast is a great option. Pea toast looks simple, but it tastes amazing. The freshness of green peas, the creaminess of paneer (Indian cottage cheese), and the crispy texture of the bread combine to create a combination that everyone, young and old, will love.

The best part is that it doesn't require any special preparation or many ingredients. If unexpected guests arrive or your children want something different to eat, pea toast can save the day.
It's not just limited to breakfast; it's also perfect with evening tea. Being nutritious, it provides energy and keeps you feeling full for a long time. Let's learn the easy and foolproof way to make pea toast.
Ingredients needed to make Pea Toast:
- Green peas – 1 cup
- Grated paneer – 1 cup
- Butter – 1 tablespoon
- Onion – 1 (finely chopped)
- Fresh coriander leaves – 3 tablespoons (chopped)
- Chaat masala – 1 teaspoon
- Salt – to taste
- Bread slices – 10 to 12
How to make Pea Toast - Step-by-step method:
1. Making pea toast is very easy and doesn't take much time. First, place a pan on the stove and add butter. As soon as the butter melts, add the finely chopped onion. Sauté the onion until it turns light pink; don't let it brown too much, otherwise, the taste might change. 2. Now add the green peas and cook on medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring continuously. The peas shouldn't be overcooked; they just need to be slightly tender. After that, add the grated paneer and mix well. As soon as you add the paneer, reduce the heat slightly so that the mixture doesn't dry out.
3. Now add chaat masala and salt and cook for another 1 to 2 minutes. Turn off the gas and mix in the chopped coriander leaves. Let the mixture cool slightly so that it doesn't break apart when spreading it on the bread.
4. Now take the bread slices and spread the pea-paneer mixture evenly on one slice. Place another bread slice on top. Prepare all the toasts in the same way. Now, lightly butter a toaster or a pan and toast the sandwiches until golden brown and crispy.
Serve the hot pea toasts with green chutney or tomato ketchup.

Tips for making pea toast even more delicious:
- If you want crispier toasts, be sure to lightly butter the outside of the bread.
- When making it for children, use fewer spices.
- For a healthier option, you can use brown bread.
- It can easily be made in a pan without a toaster.
Why is pea toast a great breakfast?
Pea toast provides a good balance of carbohydrates, protein, and fiber. Peas and paneer give the body energy and keep you feeling full for a long time. This is why it is considered a smart choice for breakfast.
