There are 24 Ekadashis in a year in Hinduism, among which *Devshayani Ekadashi* holds special significance in the scriptures. Lord Shri Hari Vishnu enters a state of *Yoganidra* (cosmic slumber) for four months, marking the beginning of *Chaturmas*. According to religious belief, auspicious activities such as weddings, housewarming ceremonies (*Griha Pravesh*), and tonsure ceremonies (*Mundan*) are not performed during this period. Worshipping Goddess Tulsi alongside Lord Vishnu on *Devshayani Ekadashi* is considered particularly significant. According to Pandit Anand Bhardwaj, an astrologer from Ujjain, a specific remedy involving the Tulsi plant performed on this day is believed to bring happiness, prosperity, financial gain, and the grace of Lord Vishnu.

It is believed that *Chaturmas* begins the day after *Devshayani Ekadashi*. From this day onwards, Lord Vishnu enters four months of *Yoganidra*. Lord Shiva takes charge of looking after the universe during these four months. This is precisely why the month of *Sawan* begins the day after this date. Auspicious activities like weddings are prohibited during the ensuing four months; instead, spiritual practice (*Sadhana*), fasting, and self-restraint are given special importance. This year, *Devshayani Ekadashi* is set to be even more special, as highly auspicious celestial combinations—such as *Amrit Siddhi Yoga*, *Brahma Yoga*, and *Indra Yoga*—are forming on this day.
When will *Devshayani Ekadashi* be observed?
According to the Vedic calendar, *Chaturmas* begins with *Devshayani Ekadashi* during the *Shukla Paksha* (waxing phase of the moon) of the *Ashadha* month. In the year 2026, the *Devshayani Ekadashi* fast will be observed on Saturday, July 25. On this day, Lord Vishnu will enter *Yoganidra*, marking the commencement of *Chaturmas*. *Chaturmas* will conclude on *Devutthana Ekadashi* during the *Shukla Paksha* of the *Kartik* month. This year, *Devutthana Ekadashi* falls on November 20, 2026; thus, *Chaturmas* will span from July 25 to November 20, 2026.
Do try this remedy:
1. If there is discord in the household. If peace is lacking in your home, tie a sacred red thread (*Kalava*) around the Tulsi plant on Devshayani Ekadashi. This reduces the influence of negative energy and fosters the flow of happiness, prosperity, and positive energy.
2. If you are facing obstacles in your job or business despite making significant efforts, light 11, 21, or 51 earthen lamps near the Tulsi plant and recite the Tulsi Chalisa on Devshayani Ekadashi. It is believed that doing so removes such hurdles.

3. If your married life is not harmonious despite your best efforts, offer the sixteen traditional adornments (*Solah Shringar*) to the Tulsi plant on Devshayani Ekadashi. This practice is highly beneficial; it brings happiness to married life and bestows the blessing of enduring marital bliss (*Akhand Saubhagya*).
