If you are heading out to refuel with petrol or diesel, this news is important for you. Jio-BP, a private fuel company backed by Reliance Industries, has raised the prices of petrol and diesel. The company has increased petrol prices by ₹5 per litre and diesel prices by ₹3 per litre. The new rates came into effect at 6:00 AM on Sunday, October 11, 2026.

Following this hike, customers will have to spend more to refuel at Jio-bp petrol pumps compared to earlier rates. Prior to this, the private oil company Nayara Energy had also increased petrol and diesel prices.
**How much was the hike?**
According to a Mint report, Jio-bp has raised petrol prices by ₹5 per litre and diesel prices by ₹3 per litre. With this increase effective from Sunday, petrol is being sold at approximately ₹108.54 per litre and diesel at ₹99.19 per litre in Punjab.
In Haryana, petrol is being sold at approximately ₹109.80 per litre and diesel at ₹97.75 per litre at Jio-bp pumps. Earlier, private oil company Nayara Energy had also raised petrol prices by ₹5 and diesel prices by ₹3.
**Jio-bp raises prices for the first time this year**
This is the first time this year that Jio-bp has increased petrol and diesel prices. The company is a joint venture between Reliance Industries and the British energy firm BP. It operates 2,227 petrol pumps across the country. Ongoing conflict in West Asia and disruptions to oil supplies via the Strait of Hormuz have put upward pressure on crude oil and petroleum product prices in the international market. This is impacting the profit margins of fuel retailers. Amidst this situation, Jio-BP has also decided to raise prices.
No Change in Prices by State-Owned Oil Companies
During this period, there has been no change in the prices of regular petrol and diesel at petrol pumps operated by state-owned oil companies such as Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL) across the country. Consequently, the price gap between petrol pumps owned by private companies and those owned by state-run companies may widen. Customers are advised to check the latest applicable rates at their nearest petrol pump before refueling.
