The month of Sawan is considered the most auspicious time for devotion to Lord Shiva. Throughout this month, a large number of devotees visit temples to offer water and *Belpatra* (wood apple leaves) and worship Mahadev. It is believed that worship performed with a sincere heart during this period yields auspicious results. According to religious beliefs, there are certain plants that, when worshipped and tended to during Sawan, help secure Lord Shiva's blessings. It is said that this brings peace and happiness to the home, creates a positive atmosphere, and gradually alleviates life's troubles. Sawan 2026 will begin on July 30 and continue until August 28. If you wish to receive Lord Shiva's special grace during this month, worshipping and caring for these plants is considered highly auspicious.

**Offer water and *Belpatra* daily**
Mahant Kameshwaranand Vedantacharya of the Ballabhgarh Udasin Sadhu Ashram explains that the first essential practice during Sawan is to offer a vessel of water to Lord Shiva every morning. While offering water, one should chant the mantra 'Om Namah Shivay' and worship with devotion. Offering *Belpatra* on the *Shivling* destroys sins and ensures the continued grace of Lord Shiva.

Mahant Kameshwaranand Vedantacharya notes that planting a *Bel* (wood apple) plant during Sawan is considered very auspicious. Those with sufficient space can plant it in the northern or eastern direction of their home; if space is limited, it can also be planted in a pot. Water it slightly every day and tend to it. One should not pluck leaves from the specific *Bel* plant one has planted; for worship purposes, it is considered better to source *Belpatra* from a larger tree or the market.

**The *Shami* plant brings blessings of happiness and prosperity**
Mahant Kameshwaranand Vedantacharya explains that the *Shami* plant is also considered dear to Lord Shiva. It can be planted in a pot in the northern direction of the house. Worshipping it and offering its leaves on the *Shivling* fosters happiness, prosperity, abundance, and family well-being. It is also considered a symbol of family safety and a positive atmosphere.

**Offering *Aak* leaves is believed to bring the blessing of a long life**
Mahant Kameshwaranand Vedantacharya explains that the *Aak* plant holds special significance in the worship of Lord Shiva. This plant is identified by the white milky sap that oozes out when its leaves are plucked. It is believed that offering *Aak* leaves to Lord Shiva brings the blessing of longevity and helps alleviate household stress. During the month of *Sawan*, any devotee who worships with faith and a sincere heart becomes a recipient of Lord Shiva's grace.
