After a long wait, Salman Khan’s film ‘Matrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace’ is set for release. At the trailer launch, the superstar announced that the film would be released on December 4. He also clarified that there was no pressure from the government to alter the film’s script.

During the trailer launch of ‘Matrubhumi’ in Mumbai, the superstar explicitly stated that the filmmakers had simply decided to prepare a new version of the film. He dismissed reports suggesting that the script had been rewritten due to government pressure, labeling them as baseless.
A film about soldiers
There were rumors that ‘Matrubhumi’ was held up by the Censor Board because the government had objections regarding its depiction of India-China relations. According to an *India Today* report, the superstar remarked, "The narrative that we are taking a stand against China and that the government pressured us to change or rewrite the script—it’s all nonsense. It is completely untrue. We have made this film about soldiers—the conditions they endure and what their families have to go through, on both sides. There is no inherent negativity; it is simply the circumstances that are negative."
The film’s title was changed
Produced under the banner of ‘Salman Khan Films,’ ‘Matrubhumi’ is directed by Apoorva Lakhia. Salman Khan plays the role of an Indian Army Colonel, and Chitrangada Singh also features in a significant role. Salman Khan noted that the initial concept for the story came from director Apoorva Lakhia. ‘Matrubhumi’ was originally promoted under the title ‘Battle of Galwan,’ as it was inspired by the skirmish between Indian and Chinese soldiers. However, Salman Khan clearly stated that the current version of the story draws attention to soldiers and their experiences in such conflicts. Several reports have claimed that changes were made to the film for various reasons, including diplomatic ones.
