Sawan 2026: The holy month of Sawan begins on Thursday, July 30. Worshipping Lord Shiva (Bholenath) and Goddess Parvati during this month is considered especially significant; worshipping Lord Shiva during this time fulfills all wishes. The month of Sawan is extremely dear to Lord Shiva. During this month, temples witness huge crowds of devotees performing *Jalabhishek* (ritual bathing with water) of the *Shivling* and chanting mantras. **Simple Method of Shiva Worship**
- Wake up early every morning during the month of Sawan, bathe, and visit a temple to take a vow (*Sankalp*) to perform the worship.
- Begin by worshipping Lord Ganesha, who is the first to be worshipped (*Pratham Pujya*).
- Offer *Durva* grass, fruits, and flowers to Lord Ganesha. Offer *Laddus* as *Bhog* (sacred food offering) and light incense and a lamp.
- After worshipping Lord Ganesha, perform *Abhishek* (ritual bathing) of the *Shivling* and Goddess Parvati using pure water mixed with a few drops of *Gangajal* (holy water from the Ganges).
- Next, perform *Abhishek* of the *Shivling* using milk, curd, honey, ghee, and sugarcane juice.
- After the *Abhishek*, offer sandalwood paste, *Bel Patra* (wood apple leaves), *Dhatura*, *Abir-Gulal* (colored powders), perfume, *Janeu* (sacred thread), *Bhang*, and *Aak* flowers to the *Shivling*.
- Following this, offer items symbolizing marital bliss (*Suhag* materials) to Goddess Parvati, such as vermilion (*Sindoor*), red bangles, red cloth, and *Kumkum*.
- Then, light camphor and perform the *Aarti*.
- Finally, ask for forgiveness for any errors made during the worship.
