Sawan 2026: The holy month of Sawan begins today. This month is extremely dear to Lord Bholenath. Worshipping Lord Shiva during this period fulfills all wishes and brings happiness and prosperity into one's life. Devotees who worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati with a sincere heart and deep devotion during Sawan see their every wish fulfilled by Bhole Bhandari. According to religious beliefs, Lord Shiva takes over the responsibility of managing the universe when Lord Vishnu enters his four-month-long meditative slumber (*Yoga Nidra*). **Do not offer Tulsi or Turmeric to Lord Shiva**
Tulsi leaves and turmeric should never be used in the worship of Lord Shiva. The *Shiva Purana* prohibits offering Tulsi and turmeric to the Shivling. Doing so prevents one from receiving the full benefits of the worship.

**Bel leaves are extremely dear to Bholenath**
Offering *Bel* leaves (*Belpatra*) to Lord Shiva during the month of Sawan is considered highly auspicious. One should offer at least three *Bel* leaves during the worship. Offering *Bel* leaves pleases Bholenath quickly and leads to the fulfillment of all desires.

**Perform *Abhishek* of the Shivling with milk**
Performing *Abhishek* (ritual bathing) of the Shivling with milk during Sawan is considered very auspicious. It brings mental peace and happiness. Performing *Abhishek* with milk, curd, *Gangajal* (holy water from the Ganges), sugarcane juice, and *Ghee* (clarified butter) is considered highly meritorious and is believed to lead to *Moksha* (salvation).

**Worship according to rituals on Sawan Mondays**
The month of Sawan is highly auspicious and blessed for the worship and spiritual practice (*Sadhana*) of Lord Shiva. While worshipping Shiva holds special significance every day during Sawan, performing the ritualistic worship on Mondays pleases Bholenath and leads to the fulfillment of all wishes.
