India's largest public sector bank has offered a significant benefit to its customers. Customers will not be charged any transaction fees for withdrawing cash from ATMs. However, this facility is available for a limited period of three days. This move comes as bank employees across the country are set to observe a nationwide strike on September 28, 29, and 30.
In view of this proposed nationwide strike, the State Bank of India (SBI) has decided to waive ATM transaction charges for its customers.
**Bank's Announcement**
SBI stated that no ATM transaction fees will be charged for transactions made at any bank's ATM across the country during the strike period. This means customers can meet their cash requirements without worrying about the fees usually levied after the monthly free transaction limit is exhausted.
Banking doesnβt stop. Your needs donβt have to wait. Even during the proposed strike period, SBI continues to keep essential banking services accessible through ATMs, YONO, Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, WhatsApp Banking, and 24Γ7 Contact Centre services. In an advisory, SBI stated, "We are making every possible effort to provide essential banking services during the strike; however, we request customers to complete necessary banking transactions before the strike dates. Please use ATMs/ADWMs and Customer Service Points (CSPs) for cash requirements, and prioritize digital channels such as Internet Banking, YONO, Mobile Banking, and UPI." Unions Object to Sunday Work
The government has directed all Public Sector Banks (PSBs) and Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) to remain open on Sunday, September 27. However, major bank employee unions are threatening a three-day strike and are urging employees not to report to the office on that Sunday.
