Offer white flowers to Lord Shiva: They must include Rajnigandha, Jahi, Juhi, and Bela flowers. These flowers should be ten or in multiples of ten. And while offering these flowers, keep their stems towards Lord Shiva. You can also choose flowers like Dhatura, white lotus, white oleander, etc.
White rice grains - An important component of Shiva worship: White rice grains are indicative of detachment, i.e., nishkam sadhna. The waves of the original higher deities related to Nirgun are attracted towards white rice grains. Lord Shiva is a higher deity, and he is more related to Nirgun. Therefore, by using white rice grains in the worship of Pindi, one gets more benefits of Shiva Tattva. After the worship, one circumambulates the deity. The method of circumambulating Lord Shiva is different from circumambulating other deities.
How to circumambulate the Shivpindi?
The circumambulation of Lord Shiva is like the phase of the moon, i.e., Som Sutri. Sutra means a canal. Parikrama starts from the left side and goes to the other end of the water pipe. Without crossing it, turn and come back to the water pipe. By doing this, one parikrama is completed. This rule applies only to man-installed or man-made Shivling. Not to Swayambhu Linga or movable Linga, i.e., Linga installed in the place of worship. A source of energy is emitted from the water pipe. Spreading the legs while crossing them has adverse effects on semen production and the five internal airs. And from this source, Shiva's Tamas dominant dissolving waves keep getting emitted with the predominance of earth and Tej elements. Therefore, circumambulation of such a Shivling is done in a semi-circular manner.
In Shivpindi, there is a confluence of Nirgun, Nirgun-Sagun elements, Tarak, and Marak elements of Shiva. By worshipping properly, the visitor gets the benefit of the necessary elements. When the Marak Shakti is emitted by Shivpindi, the temperature there increases. Bliss is experienced there. The atmosphere becomes cool as Tarak Shakti is emitted. At the same time, one experiences a feeling of joy and peace. In this month of Shravan, we pray that Lord Shiva make us perform a devotional worship as prescribed in the scriptures and blesses us with his devotion.
