Mahant Swami Kameshwaranand Vedantacharya explained that, along with Tulsi leaves, its buds also hold special significance. They are called the nails of Tulsi Mata, and there are certain rules for plucking them.

According to the Mahant, when the first buds appear on the Tulsi plant, they should not be plucked immediately. Buds are considered very auspicious, so they should only be plucked when they turn brown.

Tulsi plants should never be plucked on Sundays or Tuesdays. Plucking it during these days is considered inauspicious and can disrupt peace and happiness in the home.

After plucking the buds, they should not be allowed to fall under your feet. It is considered an insult to Tulsi Mata if the buds fall on the ground or are trampled.

If someone plucks the buds in a hurry, it can bring inauspicious results. It is said that this can increase discord and problems in the home.

Before plucking the buds, meditate on Tulsi Mata with folded hands and ask for her forgiveness. Doing so does not incur any sin and brings virtuous results.
