Best Place for a Dustbin According to Vastu: Vastu Shastra provides detailed guidelines on how to organize every part of a home. Today, we will discuss where a dustbin should be placed within the house, or what constitutes the correct location for a dustbin? We use dustbins to discard waste, refuse, and unwanted items. A dustbin symbolizes negativity, as it serves as a receptacle for the negative energy generated within the home. If a dustbin is not placed in the appropriate location, it can disrupt the positive and balanced energy of the house, potentially leading to discord within the family. Let us explore, according to Vastu, the correct places to position a dustbin in a home, shop, or office.

Where Should a Dustbin NOT Be Placed?
Whether in a home, shop, or office, a dustbin should never be placed in the North-East direction. One must strictly avoid placing a dustbin in this direction—even inadvertently—as it is considered the *Dev Kon* (Divine Corner) or *Ishan Kon*. This direction is regarded as the most *Sattvic* (pure and harmonious) zone of the house, a space imbued with positive energy. It is believed to be the abode of deities; ideally, the *Puja* room (prayer room) should be situated here. Placing a dustbin in this sacred spot leads to increased stress and anxiety. It can invite various troubles into one's life and may result in financial losses. Furthermore, it can foster an atmosphere of arguments and animosity among family members.
A dustbin should also not be placed in the East direction. If a dustbin is positioned in this direction, family members may begin to experience feelings of loneliness and isolation. They may develop a lack of social engagement and a preference for solitude, which can ultimately hinder the progress and growth of the family unit.
In a home, the South-East zone is designated for the kitchen or cooking area. This zone is considered the abode of Goddess Lakshmi. Consequently, a dustbin should not be placed in the South-East direction either. Doing so is considered inauspicious; it can impede savings, lead to increased expenses, and may even cause health-related complications for pregnant women. Furthermore, a dustbin should not be kept inside the kitchen itself.
Additionally, a dustbin should not be placed in the North direction, as this zone is associated with Lord Kuber, the deity of wealth. If a dustbin is placed in the North direction, members of that family tend to underperform in their careers. They experience a lack of professional advancement, face difficulties in business ventures, and struggle to secure employment. Furthermore, income may be generated through unethical means.
If a dustbin is situated in the South-West direction of the home, it leads to discord, quarrels, and arguments among family members. Property disputes may arise, and new business ventures are unlikely to meet with success; instead, the business is prone to incurring losses and financial setbacks. A dustbin should also be avoided in the West direction.
Placing a dustbin at the main entrance of the house invites all manner of problems. Specifically, a dustbin should never be positioned directly in front of the main gate.
Dustbins should not be kept in the bedroom, the prayer room (Puja room), or the kitchen. Doing so increases mental stress and creates a *Vastu Dosha* (Vastu defect).

**According to Vastu, the Correct Placement for a Dustbin:**
You may place dustbins in the western section of the North-West direction or the eastern section of the South-East direction of your home. Placing dustbins in these specific locations helps maintain a balanced energy flow within the house.
Dustbins should be positioned in a spot where they remain out of sight and do not catch the eye of people passing by.
Any small dustbins located inside the house should be light in color, and black or blue plastic liners should be used within them.
For the largest dustbin—typically kept outside the house—use a green plastic liner. This bin should be used to collect all of the household waste.
All dustbins should be equipped with lids. Once waste has been deposited, the lid should be closed immediately thereafter.
