Vat Savitri Vrat Puja at home: Today, 26 May 2025 is Vat Savitri Vrat. This festival is celebrated on the new moon day of Jyeshtha month and it holds special significance for married women. The belief behind this fast is that Savitri got her husband Satyavan's life back under the Vat tree, so on this day, the Vat tree is worshiped and the husband's long life and happy married life are wished for. It is also believed that the Tridevs Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh reside in the Vat tree, which further increases its religious significance.

If you are not able to find the whole tree but can find a fruit-bearing branch of the Vat tree from somewhere, then that is also a good option. In this form also, the fast is considered complete.

It is important to understand that in any worship, your faith and feelings are more important than the place or material. If you fast with a true heart, with faith, then the physical absence of the Banyan tree does not reduce your virtue or fruit. Savitri had even bowed down to Yamraj with her determination and devotion. If you fast with the same feeling, then the result will also be equally fruitful.
