Vat Savitri Vrat Puja at home: Today, 26 May 2025 is Vat Savitri Vrat. This festival is celebrated on the new moon day of Jyeshtha month and it holds special significance for married women. The belief behind this fast is that Savitri got her husband Satyavan's life back under the Vat tree, so on this day, the Vat tree is worshiped and the husband's long life and happy married life are wished for. It is also believed that the Tridevs Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh reside in the Vat tree, which further increases its religious significance.

However, many times it happens that the VAT tree is not available where women live. In such a situation, the question arises as to how to worship. This fast is a symbol of faith and devotion, so even if the Vat tree is not nearby, there is no reduction in the spirit of the fast. The resolution made with true feeling and faith of the mind is of the utmost importance. Let us know how you can worship Vat Savitri without a banyan tree.
Bring the soil of the Vat tree home and worship it.
If there is no Vat tree near you, then a day before the fast, go to some such place and bring some soil of the Vat tree home. Place this soil in a clean place and place small idols or pictures of Savitri, Satyavan, and Yamraj on it. Consider that place as the place of worship and worship with full devotion. This symbolic form of soil is considered to be the same as the presence of the Vat tree. When the feeling is true, the symbol also becomes worshipable.
Bring a branch of the Vat tree and plant it in a pot.
If you are not able to find the whole tree but can find a fruit-bearing branch of the Vat tree from somewhere, then that is also a good option. Plant that branch in the soil in a pot and worship it on the day of the fast, considering it as the symbol of the Vat tree. In such a situation, you can perform all the traditional rituals of worship around the same branch, such as tying a thread, listening to the story, doing parikrama, etc.
Worship sitting near the Tulsi plant.
If you cannot find a Banyan tree, its branch, or even the soil, then another holy option is the Tulsi plant. Tulsi is considered highly revered in Hinduism and is available at home. In such a situation, you can sit near Tulsi and worship the fast with devotion and method. There, listen to the story of the fast, imbibe the spirit of the fast, and take a resolution from the heart. In this form also, the fast is considered complete.

Emotions and faith are the most important.
It is important to understand that in any worship, your faith and feelings are more important than the place or material. If you fast with a true heart, with faith, then the physical absence of the Banyan tree does not reduce your virtue or fruit. Savitri had even bowed down to Yamraj with her determination and devotion. If you fast with the same feeling, then the result will also be equally fruitful.
