What is Warts: Warts on the body are a common skin problem that bothers many people. They often appear as small, rough, and raised spots on the skin. Warts not only affect the physical appearance, but sometimes they can also cause itching, pain, or mild discomfort, causing a person to have trouble in everyday life.

Warts can occur to a person of any age, whether it is a child or an adult, and they can appear on any part of the body such as hands, feet, face, neck, or genitals. It is important to understand that warts can be contagious and can spread through direct contact or infected objects. But do you know why warts occur? Let us know about this in detail in this article, as well as know how many types there are.
The main cause of warts
The main cause of warts is the Human papillomavirus (HPV), which spreads through skin contact. The virus penetrates the upper layer of the skin and causes cells to grow abnormally, leading to the formation of warts. There are more than 100 types of HPV, some of which cause common warts and some genital warts. The virus spreads rapidly in moist and warm environments, such as swimming pools, gyms, or the use of shared towels.
Types of warts
Common warts: These are rough and raised, usually appearing on the hands and fingers.
Plantar warts: These occur on the soles of the feet and can cause pain while walking.
Flat warts: They appear as smooth and small spots on the face and legs.
Genital warts: These are spread through sexual contact and can increase the risk of cervical cancer in severe cases.
Symptoms and Identification
Warts usually appear as raised, hard, or soft spots on the skin. Some may have black dots (blood vessels). Genital warts may look like cauliflower. If the wart is painful, itchy, bleeding, or growing rapidly, get it checked by a dermatologist immediately.
Precautions-
Wash your hands, feet, and body regularly with soap and water, especially after returning from public places, such as a gym or swimming pool. Keep nails clean and be careful while cutting them, as dirt or cuts can cause the HPV virus to enter.
Do not share personal items like towels, razors, shoes, or socks with others. These can be the main means of spreading the virus. Always use your items and keep them clean.
If there is a cut, scratch, or wound in the skin, clean it immediately and cover it with a bandage. The HPV virus enters easily through broken skin.
Take HPV vaccine at the age of 9-45 years to prevent genital warts and cervical cancer. It protects against some dangerous HPV strains. Consult a doctor before taking the vaccine.
