Flax Seed Laddu Recipe: Flax seed laddus are highly popular. During the winter season, they help protect against colds, coughs, and seasonal infections. Flax seeds are rich in calcium and iron, which help strengthen bones. They are also high in fiber, which improves digestion and helps in regulating blood sugar levels. Furthermore, they are beneficial for the skin and hair. Let’s find out how to make flax seed laddus and which nuts and dry fruits can be added to them.

If you don’t have flax seeds at home, you can purchase them from the market; they are generally available for around ₹90–100 per kilogram. Take 250–300 grams of flax seeds and roast them in a pan over low heat, stirring continuously. After a while, the seeds will begin to crackle—this indicates that they are roasting properly. You will notice a pleasant aroma, and the seeds will puff up slightly. Once they are well-roasted (which should take about 7–8 minutes), turn off the heat and let them sit in the pan for another 3–4 minutes. Transfer the roasted flax seeds into a bowl. Next, add 50 grams of oats to the same pan and roast them thoroughly.
Oats are high in fiber and help control blood sugar levels. They also ensure that the laddus do not feel heavy and are easy to digest. Now, heat two tablespoons of ghee and lightly roast 40 grams of almonds, 15 grams of walnuts, and 30 grams of cashews. Remove these and set them aside in a bowl. Finally, roast 20 grams of makhana (fox nuts) in the remaining ghee; this will also help utilize any ghee left in the pan.
Lastly, take 20 grams of desiccated coconut and roast it in the pan over low heat. Once the coconut shreds turn brown, turn off the gas. Next, take a mixer and grind the roasted flax seeds thoroughly. After grinding the flax seeds, add the roasted dry fruits to the mixer and pulse them until they are coarsely ground. Transfer all the ingredients into a large mixing bowl or tray.
Now, add half a teaspoon each of dried ginger powder, cardamom powder, black pepper powder, and cinnamon powder. Cinnamon helps provide relief from coughs, sore throats, and colds that often occur during seasonal changes. Mix everything well. For sweetness, add 200 grams of jaggery powder (adjust the amount according to your preference).

To bind the *laddus*, take half a cup of *ghee* and heat it well in a frying pan. Once the *ghee* is hot, pour it into the mixture and combine thoroughly. Shape the mixture into *laddus* while it is still slightly warm. Your flax seed *laddus*, infused with five different spices, are now ready. You can store them and enjoy them as part of your breakfast; they are highly beneficial for your health.
