Kedarnath Yatra 2025: The journey to Kedarnath temple starts every year in summer when the doors of the temple are opened for devotees. This journey usually takes place from April or May to November. The temple remains closed due to heavy snowfall during the winter season. If you are also planning to visit the Chardham Yatra of Uttarakhand or Kedarnath temple, then first of all know when the doors of Kedarnath temple are opening in the year 2025, what is the registration date for the journey and how and by which route the journey to Kedarnath can be done.

When will the doors of Kedarnath open in 2025?
The doors of Kedarnath temple will open this year on May 2, 2025, at 6:20 am. Pilgrims will get entry into Kedarnath temple from 7 am. At the same time, Kedarnath temple will be closed for devotees on 23 October 2025.
When can you register for the journey?
The tourism department started Aadhaar based online registration from March 20. So far, more than 16 lakh pilgrims have registered. The registration slots for Kedarnath Dham from May 2 to 4 are full on the registration website registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in. Now seven days of registration slots are available on different dates for the journey till May 20.
Where is Kedarnath temple located?
Kedarnath temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Also, Kedarnath temple is the first among the Panch Kedar pilgrimage sites. This temple is considered to be the most beloved of Lord Shiva, and is dedicated to five different parts of the bull form of Lord Shiva. Kedarnath temple is located among the Himalayan mountain ranges in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand.
Options to reach Kedarnath
Road route
For the journey to Kedarnath Dham, you can reach Sonprayag with the help of bus, taxi from Haridwar, Rishikesh or Dehradun. The distance from Sonprayag to Gaurikund is about five km, which can be reached by local taxi. From Gaurikund to Kedarnath temple, one has to walk 16-18 km.
Helicopter service
Helicopter service is available from Phata, Guptkashi and Sirsi. Tickets can be booked from GMVN website or authorized agencies. Helicopter booking starts a few weeks before the journey.
Horse, mule, dandi-kandi service
For elderly or sick passengers, the option of horse, mule, or palanquin is also available, which takes them from Gaurikund to the temple.

Expense for visiting Kedarnath Dham
Ticket from Delhi to Dehradun by train or bus can be available from Rs 300 to 1000. If you take a bus from Dehradun to Gaurikund, then it can be from Rs 300 to 500. Direct bus service can also be available from Delhi to Gaurikund, whose fare is Rs 500-1000. If you are taking a helicopter service, then the round-trip ticket from Sirsi will cost Rs 5498 per person, a ticket from Phata to Kedarnath Dham will cost Rs 5500 and a ticket from Guptkashi will cost Rs 7740. If helicopter service is out of budget, then palanquins and horses can also be booked from Gaurikund to Kedarnath.
