No need to throw away broken toast anymore—make this special sweet dish instead! Note down the recipe..

Often, bread or toast pieces at home get broken or are left over, which people frequently end up throwing away. However, you no longer need to do that. Using these broken toast pieces, you can create an incredibly delicious sweet dish that will be loved by everyone—from children to adults. This recipe is simple, quick to prepare, and can be made using ordinary ingredients already available in your kitchen.

**Ingredients**
Broken Toast or Bread – 2 cups
Milk – 2 cups
Sugar – 1/2 cup (or to taste)
Ghee (Clarified Butter) – 2 tablespoons
Cardamom Powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Dry Fruits – (Almonds, Cashews, Raisins)
Saffron – 8-10 strands
Condensed Milk – 2 tablespoons (for enhanced flavor)

**Preparation Method**

**Preparing the Toast**
First, break the pieces of broken toast or bread into smaller chunks. If they are too soft, let them dry out slightly so they acquire a bit of crispiness.

**Roasting in Ghee**
Heat 2 tablespoons of ghee in a pan (or *kadhai*). Add the bread pieces and roast them until they turn light golden and crispy. This will improve both the flavor and the texture.

**Preparing the Milk**
In a separate pot, bring the milk to a boil. If desired, add the saffron strands at this stage and let it simmer for 5 minutes; this will infuse the milk with a beautiful color and aroma.

**Combining Toast and Milk**
Now, add the roasted toast pieces to the boiling milk. Let it cook over a low flame so that the bread thoroughly absorbs the milk and becomes soft.

**Adding Sweetness and Flavor**
Add the sugar, cardamom powder, and condensed milk, and mix everything thoroughly. Cook over a medium flame for 5–7 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.

**Adding Dry Fruits**
Finally, add the chopped almonds, cashews, and raisins. You may reserve a few dry fruits to use as a garnish later. **The Final Stage**
Once the mixture reaches a *halwa-like* consistency, turn off the heat. Allow it to cool down slightly.

**Serving Suggestions**
You can serve this sweet dish either hot or cold. Garnish it with chopped dry fruits. It is perfect for festivals, special occasions, or as an everyday dessert.

**Special Tips**
If you wish to make it even richer, you can add a small amount of *khoya* (reduced milk solids).
Using jaggery instead of sugar will enhance both the flavor and the nutritional value.
If you prefer a thicker consistency, use less milk or cook the mixture for a longer duration.
