Most Auspicious Oil for the Diya: Lighting a lamp (diya) is considered highly significant during worship in Hinduism. It is believed that the flame of the lamp not only dispels darkness but also brings positive energy, happiness, prosperity, and peace into the home. However, people often wonder which lamp is the most auspicious to light during worship—one with sesame oil, mustard oil, or ghee. Let us explore the significance of each according to religious beliefs and astrology...

**Ghee Lamp: The Most Auspicious and Sattvic**
In religious scriptures, the ghee lamp is considered the most auspicious. A lamp lit with cow's ghee, in particular, is believed to be extremely dear to the deities. Lighting a ghee lamp is thought to bring happiness, peace, and prosperity to the home and to multiply the spiritual benefits of the worship. Ghee lamps are especially lit during Lakshmi Puja, Vishnu Puja, Satyanarayan Katha, and other auspicious ceremonies. Its flame is regarded as a symbol of *Sattvic* (pure) and positive energy.
**Sesame Oil Lamp**
According to religious beliefs, the sesame oil lamp holds great importance. Astrologically, sesame oil is associated with Lord Shani (Saturn) and one's ancestors. There is a tradition of lighting a sesame oil lamp at Shani temples on Saturdays. It is believed that lighting a sesame oil lamp dispels negative energy and helps mitigate the effects of *Shani Dosh* (adverse Saturnine influence).
**Mustard Oil Lamp**
Mustard oil lamps are primarily lit during the worship of Lord Hanuman, Bhairav Baba, and Shani Dev. Many people also use them for protection against the evil eye and negative energies. Mustard oil lamps are still widely used in villages and traditional households today.

**Which Lamp is Considered the Most Auspicious?**
For general worship, *Aarti*, or to invite positive energy into the home, the ghee lamp is considered the most auspicious and ideal choice. However, lamps filled with sesame or mustard oil are lit for specific religious rituals, the worship of Lord Shani, or to ward off negative influences (*doshas*).
