The month of Sawan is considered the most special and sacred time of the year for devotees of Lord Shiva. As Sawan approaches, Shiva temples come alive with activity, and devotees immerse themselves in devotion to Bholanath. Religious activities such as fasting, *Jalabhishek* (ritual bathing of the deity with water), *Rudrabhishek*, and the *Kanwar Yatra* are the highlights of this entire month. There is good news for Shiva devotees eagerly awaiting Sawan 2026: the dates for this holy month have now been announced.

Shubham Tiwari stated that, according to the North Indian almanac (*Panchang*), the month of Sawan will begin on Thursday, July 30, 2026, and conclude on Friday, August 28, 2026. Special worship of Lord Shiva will be performed throughout the month. It is believed that sincere devotion to Shiva during Sawan fulfills devotees' wishes and brings happiness and prosperity to their lives. This is why devotees look forward to this month all year round.
Mondays hold special significance during Sawan. According to religious beliefs, Monday is a day dedicated to Lord Shiva. Observing a fast and offering water, milk, *Belpatra* (wood apple leaves), and *Dhatura* to the *Shivling* on this day yields special blessings. In 2026, there will be a total of four Mondays during Sawan. The first Sawan Monday will be on August 3. This will be followed by the second Monday on August 10, the third on August 17, and the fourth on August 24. Large crowds of devotees are expected at Shiva temples on these four days.

For women, the *Mangala Gauri Vrat* (fast) also holds great significance during Sawan. This fast is dedicated to Goddess Parvati; married women observe it specifically to pray for the happiness and prosperity of their married life and the longevity of their husbands. Unmarried women also observe this fast with the wish of finding a desired life partner. In Sawan 2026, the *Mangala Gauri Vrat* will be observed on August 4, 11, 18, and 25. Special rituals for worshipping Goddess Gauri will be performed on these days. Sawan 2026 will feature four Mondays and four Mangala Gauri fasts, offering devotees numerous special opportunities to worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. If you are also planning to observe fasts, perform rituals, or offer *Jalabhishek* during Sawan, you can begin your preparations now.
