Vitamin D Deficiency & Headaches: In today's era, people's lives have become full of hustle and bustle. Due to this, most people live under stress. Stress causes many problems including headaches. Often people associate headaches with stress, lack of sleep, and eye fatigue. There can be many reasons for headaches, but a deficiency of certain vitamins can also be a major cause of headaches. The body needs many nutrients to function properly and when there is an imbalance in them, it can directly affect the brain and neurological health. Sometimes recurrent headaches can be a sign that your body is lacking some essential vitamin.

According to a report by Medical News Today, vitamin D deficiency can cause headaches. When this vitamin is lacking for a long time, it can affect the functioning of the brain along with muscles and bones. Lack of sunlight, spending more time indoors, and not eating a diet rich in calcium and vitamin D can cause its deficiency. This can cause chronic headaches and fatigue. Apart from this, neurological problems like numbness, fatigue and headache can be seen due to deficiency of vitamin B12. This vitamin helps in keeping the nervous system strong. Due to its deficiency, the brain does not get enough oxygen, which can cause problems like headaches and dizziness.

Not only vitamin D and vitamin B12, but vitamin B2 deficiency can also be a major cause of headaches. Research has shown that vitamin B2 supports neurological functions. Doctors often advise migraine patients to take vitamin B2 supplements. This vitamin is found in abundance in foods like eggs, milk, green vegetables, and almonds. Apart from this, headaches can also be caused by a deficiency of folate i.e. vitamin B9. Folate is found in good quantity in spinach, broccoli, pulses and nuts. If you are troubled by frequent headaches and are not getting relief despite good eating habits, then you must consult a doctor and get it checked.
